FEMRI took part in GTI meetings

On June 23–25, 2010 a number of events under the Greater Tumen Initiative took place in Busan, the Republic of Korea: Expert Seminar, Inaugural meeting of the GTI Transport Board, visit of Busan port, etc.

The events were organized by the Tumen Secretariat/UNDP in cooperation with Busan Development Institute (BDI) and hosted by the Metropolitan City Government. 

The following issues were considered within the Seminar: GTI transport projects, current conditions, potential, proposals of countries-participants on future cooperation, transport corridors development, possible measures on interaction procedures facilitation for GTI transport projects promotion.

Kholosha Mikhail - Head of transport development department took an active part in the Seminar and presented a paper «International Cooperation in the North-East Asia on transport issues: new opportunities for GTI».

Representatives of regional and local government, business circles, scientific and research Institutes, experts in transport field from Japan, Republic of Korea, China participated in the Seminar.

Main results:

1. Mr. Yeo Hyung Koo, Director General, Comprehensive Transport Policy Division, Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, Republic of Korea was elected as a Chairperson of the Transport Board.

2. The GTI Transport Expert Group was established, and a number of its members for the period of the years 2010–2012 was approved (Japan, China, Republic of Korea, Russia).

3. GTI Transport Cooperation Program 2010–2012 was considered. A number of priority projects has been identified for joint promotion and reslization in the coming years.
