Safety of navigation department carries out scientific and research, engineering and technical, experimental works in the field of safety transportation. 

Main activities:

1. Working out documentation on general and bulk cargo transportation, including dangerous goods.

2. Ship inspection and project verification for getting Register certificate on dangerous goods transportation.

3. Securing devices calculation and development of cargo securing methods for transportation by sea and by rail road.

4. Inspection of cargoes, elaboration of «Cargo Information» documentation.

5. Supervision over cargo loading and securing operations and issue of safe securing certificates.

6. Working out of «Cargo Securing Manuals» with detailed recommendations to ship master based on «every cargo - on every ship - in every voyage» (Rule VI.5 SOLAS-74).

7. Ship stability calculations and ship stability booklets elaboration.

8. Inspection and testing of ship stationary cargo securing devices by means of special equipment and test performance results issue.

9. Consulting and methodological services to parties involved in transportation process.

10. Express consulting on accidents during cargo transportation by sea.

Safety of navigation department has laboratories and representatives in almost all ports in the Russian Far East.
