Organized in March, 1967, the Department follows an active policy in the market of project services till now.

Being a technological department, the Port Design Department develops the main sections of designs that is possible due to structural form of the Department. All staff is integrated into groups according to functionality of:
1. Technical and economic features;
2. Layout plans of the facilities and safety of navigation;
3. Techniques and organization of handling operations;
4. Labour conditions and company management;
5. Development of civil defense and emergency response plans;
6. Development of port facilities security plans according to International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ICPC Code);
7. Environmental protection matters are developed by the Environmental Group.
